Opening hours

Dear guests, due to the Corona crisis we are not allowed to open on March 28th, 2020 as planned. This is why we will be closed until further notice. We are currently assuming that operations may begin as of May 1st, 2020. You are always welcome to book and secure your mining experience here and now. For the latest information, you can also follow us on Facebook and on Instagram.

We wish you and wish ourselves that we get through this crisis safe and well. Your well-being and your health are of course important to us. Please take care of yourselves, please be considerate of each other and please support one another. We are certain that we will master this major crisis with prudence and by being there for each other.

At this point, we would like also to say THANKS to all employees who tirelessly continue to work for the „Fortuna Visitors´Mine“.

Your Fortuna-Team

⚒ Glück Auf! ⚒  Wishing all of you Good Luck ⚒

PS: We as a charitable, non-profitable organization gemeinnütziger, nicht gewinnorientierter Verein are the carrier (representatives and sponsors) of the Fortuna visitors´mine, a genuine mine open to visitors. Compared to other museum facilities, we have very high operating costs (5 employees are needed to attend to 1 visitor and our cable car – the conveyer basket – regularly requires a lot of technological support and testing from the mining supervision authority). Our facility is financially supported by the public sector with only a fixed amount which hardly contributes to the total expenditures. We are very dependant on the proceeds from our tickets´sales, from our museum shop and of course from the donations we receive from you in order to achieve a black zero. For this task, we are also dependant on a lot of volunteering – for which we are very thankful. Therefore, it is our goal and our hope to be able to preserve the mine as a living monument that contributes to the memory of our industrial culture and to the mining history in our region despite all the hardships we have & the loss in sales (due to the present situation). We are very much looking forward to welcoming you at the “Geopark Fortuna” during your future visits.

All tours through our mine take place in small groups. The rooms and corridors underground are always well ventilated with fresh air. The museum is generously dimensioned and allows you (if you wish) to prevent coming into close contact with other people. We are looking forward to welcoming you on your next visit!
